The Library has 2 smart boards that can be used in the Group Study Rooms.

Using SMART kapp 42 Smart Boards

  1. Check out a smart board at the Circulation Desk.
    • Use inside the library
    • 2-hour loan period
  2. Carefully wheel it into a Group Study Room.

  1. Download the free SMART kapp app (available for iOS & Android devices)
    • Don’t have a smartphone or tablet? Borrow an iPad. The SMART kapp app is preloaded.
  2. Attach the power cord to the smart board and plug it in to a power outlet.
    • The power cord, dry erase marker, and eraser are in a blue bag which hangs on the back of the smart board. 
    • An orange circle icon on the bottom, right-hand corner of the screen will spin for a few minutes. It will turn green when the smart board is ready to use.
  3. Enable Bluetooth in your mobile device’s settings.
  4. Open the SMART kapp app.
  5. Scan the QR code on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to pair your device with the smart board.
    • When the smart board has been successfully paired to your device, white Bluetooth and camera icons will appear on the bottom, right-hand corner of the screen (next to the green circle.


  1. Use a dry-erase marker to write on the screen.  Anything you write will also appear in the app.
  2. Use the camera icon on the smart board or in the app to take snapshots of the white board screen.
    • You can save your snapshots using various apps on your device, including email, Google Drive, Dropbox, Evernote, PDF, camera roll.
  3. If members of your team are participating in your meeting remotely, invite them to join your SMART kapp session.
    • No app required. Participants can view your session through their web browser.
  1. When you are finished:
    • Remember to save any snapshots you wish to keep.
    • Erase the board.
    • Return the board and equipment to the Circulation Desk
  • Smart boards must be returned no later than one hour before the library closes.
