Welcome! This guide is designed to give students a brief introduction to the D. Samuel Gottesman Library of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Accessing Library resources remotely

How does it work?
 Simply use the Online Journals, E-Books, or Databases pages from the Library's web site. You will be prompted for your UserID and Password once you click on a resource.

What is my UserID and Password?

  • Medical students, Graduate Programs in the Biomedical Sciences students: log on using your AD login. This is the same way you log on to Canvas, Mediasite, One45, and Monteradius WiFi
  • PostDocs on the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Campus: log on using your AD login.
  • Ferkauf students on the Einstein Campus: your UserID is the 10-digit barcode number on your Einstein ID card. Your password is your last name. Passwords are not case sensitive.

Printing at the Library

The Office of Medical Education provides first and second year medical students with a print allowance. These accounts are managed by the Library to enable you to use the Library's color and black and white printers.

When you print, you will be prompted to enter your user ID and password.
The user ID is the 5-digit number on your Einstein picture ID card.
The password is your last name.

The Library provides a free comb binding service to help you organize your printouts. 

Group Study Rooms

The Group Study Rooms are available when the Library is open.

Click here to reserve a Group Study Room.

  •  Rooms are intended for groups of 2 or more. Single individuals may be asked to leave if a group is without a room.
  •  Each room has an LCD screen, whiteboard, wireless access, conference table and 6 chairs.
  •  Dry Erase Markers and erasers can be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
  •  Rooms can be reserved for consecutive 15 minute intervals, maximum 2 hours per day. The 2-hour limit is not enforced when other rooms available.
  •  Reservations will be held for 15 minutes after start time.
  •  Rooms can be reserved up to 8 weeks in advance.

 

The Library has 2 smart boards available for use. There is one in Group Study Room 1, and another in Group Study Room 2.

Laptops, MacBooks, and iPads

The Library has laptops, MacBooks, and iPads available to lend.

  • Each can be borrowed for a period of 7 days.
  • Each can be checked out at the D. Samuel Gottesman Library Circulation Desk.
  • Checkouts and returns must take place during regular Circulation Desk hours.

Charging Mobile Devices in the Library

                          

For your convenience, there is a wall-mount phone charging station in the Reading Room as well as a charging locker unit located in the Beren Study Center. The unit in the Beren Study Center has 8 bays of charging lockers, numbered from 1-8 and identifiable by their unique colors.  Each locker bay has a variety of charging connectors (Apple Lightning, Apple 30-Pin, Micro USB, USB Type-C).  The two bottom lockers also have electrical outlets. Instructions are posted.

3D Printing

The D. Samuel Gottesman Library provides 3D printing technology as part of its mission to provide resources and services that support and advance the education and scholarship of the Einstein community. Learn more here.
