Library genie lampWe all have wish lists. Library staff want to know what resources and services you would like the Library to provide in the future. Use this link to share your wishes with the Library Genie. We'll do our best to grant your wishes

A complete list of all wishes submitted, including the wishes we were able to grant, will be posted at http://libguides.einstein.yu.edu/3wishes.  Wishes are being accepted from now until November 30.

D. Samuel Gottesman Library Celebrates With Our Patrons National Medical Library Month

During the month of October, the library celebrated National Medical Library Month, honoring the wonderful team of librarians and staff, and the services we provide to our users.

Library users learned about Library resources, services and workshops.  Library patrons enthusiastically received daily giveaways such as badge holders, jar openers and pens. Weekly raffles were held for a Barnes & Noble gift card and a Starbucks gift card. During the week of October 24-27, overdue fines for books or journals were waived for library users.

Raffle Winners

The Library held weekly raffles during the month of October to celebrate National Medical Library Month. Participants answered a trivia question and were entered to win an Amazon or Starbucks gift card.

Congratulations to our raffle winners and many thanks to all those who participated.

Who knew? You can charge your mobile devices in the Library

We now have a wall mounted phone charging station installed in the Reading Room.

A charging locker unit is located in the Beren Study Center. The unit has 8 bays of charging lockers, numbered from 1-8 and identifiable by their unique colors.  Each locker bay has a variety of charging connectors (Apple Lightning, Apple 30-Pin, Micro USB, USB Type-C).  The two bottom lockers also have electrical outlets. Instructions are posted.

The Dark Side of the Human Genome

The journal Nature regularly publishes Nature Outlook , a supplemental series in which topics of scientific, clinical, or societal interest are explored in depth. These Outlooks provide a description of the current "state of knowledge" on the selected theme. For instance, this Outlook from October 2016 explores the topic of the dark side of the human genome.  As the author notes, "Scientists are uncovering the hidden switches in our genome that dial gene expression up and down, but much work lies ahead to peel back the many layers of regulation."

Readers interested in exploring more Nature Outlook topics may select the See all supplements link at the top of the page.
